Treatment: Ayurvedic Cure for Chikungunya?
With the virus now in Europe, mainly in Italy, Chikungunia is gaining fast attention around the world. On the treatments front, Ayurveda has been doing wonders in the treatment of Chikunguya (commonly mispelt as Chikungunia). If you already know about the treatments of this disease, you will know that there is not such thing as a proper cure or treatment for this disease.
Recently it was discovered that Triphala, an ayurvedic composition of 3 fruits namely Harada(haritaki), Amla(amalaki) and Behada(bibhitaki) is a good medicine for Chikungunya. Also powdered Sunflower seed taken along with honey is a good supplement precribed by the Ayurvedic docters at my place in Cochin, India. This mixture must be taken about 3 times a day along with your regular medicines to gain relief from joint pains which is a major after effect of this illness.
Drinking loads of water will also help in reducing the pain and suffering from this disease.
We will keep you updated with the effects, treatments, cure and more on Chikungunya
Till then, take care!

I have picked up this virus at the end of December 2007 in South Africa, and my medical doctor tells me I am the second patient within a week he has seen with this fever.
It is an inconvenient desease, and I have had it for almost 2 months now. It appears to come and go (headaches, upper body aches and pains, but most importantly, the joint aches (I suppose much like gout or arthritis)).
Medicines don’t help, I suppose one has to learn to live with it!

Well, a bit surprised that India does not figure under the countries affected. If newspaper reports are to be believed, there are whole villages in the southern parts of the Karnataka state that have become dysfunctional due to widespread Chichungunya

Well, I am from the place where chicunguya has paralyzed few districts of karnataka. It is deadly and the economy of these places have come down heavily. People are taking help of ayurvedic and homeo medicines and the results are mixed-kind of. This article is good for me as my wife is currently suffering from this disease.

My mother got infected a couple of month back. Even after the fever is over, the pain was still existing. Specially in the finger joints and ankles. Now she is taking Rabium-20, and this is giving lot of relief. But I strongly suggest not to take this untill your Doctor says.

I recently (end of March 2010) traveled to Indonesia and it seems that I had been infected by Chikungunya fever, as I had all the symptoms except vomitting, and the pain on my joints persist which restricts movement and weakens my body!
In Austin I have been diagnosed for arthralgias and myalgias and the nurse in charge informed me that the blood test showed high level of inflammation, and she said she didn’t know where the inflammation was from… I do not think the doctors see my case beyond arthiritis problem, and is sending me to an anthiritis/rheumatology specialist.
I can’t ignore of the possibility that I might get infected by this fever, even though I have read that there is no treatment for it.
I found that CDC performs Chikungunya testing, and I finally insisted on a blood test done for this disease. This way I can proof what I think I have and hopefully the medical pratitioners can be more aware about this kind of disease.

there is another way to reduce the pains. though not explained scientifically, its been tried and tested just like many of those granny’s methods.
1st day one garlic petal, second day 2, third day 3 petals and forth day four petals, and fifth day 3, sixth day 2 petals, and seventh day one petal. the petals are to be cleaned off their covers completely and swallowed directly without chewing. it may tend to a bit of gassy stomach but that is okay.

I am in hell since last month. It started with viral fever that lasted for 8 days. Than it started showing symptoms of severe joint pain, knees, ancles, wrists finger joints, swelling on my left ancle. I am on homeopathy and same doctor prescribed me mobizox and omez-20 in case of acute pains. Now I have to take daily alopathy medicines too. I am tired of my aches and pains.

I am from suburb of Mumbai and travel daily to Mumbai to attend office. I regularly attend trekking programmes during monsoon in Sahyadri range of mountains. Without fail, I use mosquito net from my childhood. I got fever on 23 August 2010 and temperature was 4 dc. I last for only a day but it made me handicapped. For 2-3 days, without help, I was not able to move my hands/legs. I had rashes, headache and pains in full body for 2-3 days. My first day blood test showed nothing. Family doctor diagnosed it a viral fever and treated me accordingly. After 10-12 days, I rushed to hospital for further tests as there was severe pain in joints of legs, even I was not able to stand. The second blood test confirmed my doubt, it was Chikungunya. I was admitted. After few days, paining in my joints of legs reduced and started paining in joints of upper body. My neck, shoulders got stiff, so I took acupressure / acupuncture treatment for two weeks. It worked very well.
Now 3 and half months are over, I still have pain in joints of legs. I suffer lot, particularly in morning. I am not able to run or jump. I don’t find any difficulty when I walk on plain road/ surface but it’s really a tuff time for me when I use stairs/walk on uneven surface.
I avoid painkeelers. Now I decided to go for treatment either of ayurveda or homeopath. Hope I will find solution from it.

Hello,
I have a Herbal medicine which my associate tested on 80 people who got Chikungunia viral. He got 99% positive feedback from this medicine. It was a 10 days course with dedication.
We want to export this out of India.
